The indicator includes a semiconductor layer configured to absorb the first emission and emit a second, different emission. An exemplary vehicle illumination method includes, among other things, absorbing a first emission with a semiconductor layer of an indicator. The first emission is emitted from a brake component. The method further includes emitting a second, different emission from the semiconductor layer.
