Abstract

The systems, devices, and techniques described herein are directed to providing access to private or restricted access points to facilitate emergency calls. A Wi-Fi access point installed in a home environment of a user may be secured via a password or encryption, or may otherwise be restricted to provide access only to user equipment that is authorized to access the access point. The access point may include an emergency access module to provide limited access to an otherwise unauthorized user equipment to access the access point in during an emergency. The access point may determine that a user equipment is unauthorized and that the user equipment is attempting to establish an emergency call to a public-safety answering point. In such a case, the access point may provide limited access to the user equipment for the purpose of making the emergency call.
