Abstract
A cylinder block is provided with a cylinder bore wall section configured to support a piston which reciprocates in a cylinder bore. The cylinder bore wall section includes a hollow portion at a location of the cylinder bore wall section on the side away from a cylinder head in the cylinder axial direction. The width of the hollow portion in the cylinder radial direction is greater on the side away from the cylinder head in the cylinder axial direction than the side closer to the cylinder head.
