Abstract
The present invention provides a separator for a lithium ion battery. The separator includes a substrate, an inorganic coating on at least one surface of the substrate, and an organic coating on at least one surface of the inorganic coating, wherein the coating density of the organic coating is 0.1 mg/1540.25 mm2˜10 mg/1540.25 mm2. Compared with the prior art, the separator of the present invention can improve the deformation of the lithium ion battery and enhance the expansion force that the lithium ion battery can endure, thereby improving the cycle life of the lithium ion battery. In addition, the present invention also provides a lithium ion battery having the separator of the present invention.
