Methods of attracting the small hive beetle Aethina tumida, involving treating an object or area with a small hive beetle Aethina tumida attracting effective amount of a composition containing 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one, nonanal and decanal, and optionally a carrier. The composition does not contain any other compound produced by the small hive beetle Aethina tumida other than 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one, nonanal and decanal.
