Abstract
Embodiments are disclosed for data synchronization via WIFI direct. In some examples, an in-vehicle computing system of a vehicle includes a wireless communication interface, a processor, and a storage device storing instructions executable by the processor to initiate a connection to a mobile device over a WIFI direct communication link, the in-vehicle computing system being established as a group owner of the WIFI direct link and the mobile device being established as a group client of the WIFI direct link. The instructions are further executable to assign an IP address to the mobile device based on an IP address of the in-vehicle computing system, identify the in-vehicle computing system as a sink for synchronization data communicated over the WIFI direct communication link, and selectively receive the synchronization data from the mobile device over the WIFI direct communication link in accordance with transmission control protocol (TCP) or user datagram protocol (UDP).
