Systems are described including a monitoring device dimensioned for placement on a human. The monitoring device can include a plurality of sensors for monitoring a sleep position, a temperature, a carbon dioxide level and a respiration of the human. The system can further including a processing unit coupled to the monitoring device, the processing unit capable of processing information from the plurality of sensors and performing an algorithm to determine the presence of a sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) risk factor based on the information.
