A filter aid for a pre-coat filter, the filter agent comprising regenerated cellulose fibers, and a method for filtering or stabilizing an unfiltered product, including: provision of a pre-coat filter; pre-coating of a filter means of the pre-coat filter with regenerated cellulose fibers acting as a filter aid, in order to form a filter layer and passing of the unfiltered product through the filter layer that has been formed.
