Abstract
A string for a bowed musical instrument having a supporting string core and at least one outer winding layer is disclosed. The outer winding layer comprises first and second winding bands having identical thicknesses, and a substantially rectangular cross-section. The outer winding layer being a composite winding layer wherein the materials used in the first and second winding elements having respective different thermal conductivities differs from each other by at least 170 W/mK.
