Methods of treating or alleviating a patient with incontinence are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method comprises applying a transcutaneous electrical stimulation using an electrode to a limb of the patient and stimulating a nerve running through the limb and emanating from a sacral nerve of the patient through the transcutaneous electrical stimulation. The transcutaneous electrical stimulation causes a signal to propagate to a target nerve in the pelvic floor of the patient and results in a reduction of symptoms associated with incontinence.
