Abstract
A conductive metallic particle coated with an organometallic compound, a metal salt, an inorganic oxide, an inorganic hydroxide, or a combination thereof, is provided. The invention also provides a process for preparing a coated conductive metallic particle comprising forming an organometallic coating, a metal salt coating, an inorganic oxide coating, an inorganic hydroxide coating, or a combination thereof, on a conductive metallic particle. Specifically, a process for preparing a coated conductive metallic particle, comprising (a) obtaining a mixture of at least one conductive metallic particle and at least one inorganic precursor in water, an organic solvent, or a combination thereof, (b) hydrolysing the inorganic precursor in the mixture, and (c) optionally adding at least one organic compound is provided. The invention also provides a coated a conductive metallic particle prepared by the claimed processes, as well as the use of the coated conductive metallic particle in a composition. A composition comprising the coated conductive metallic particles of the invention, such as an electroconductive composition comprising the coated conductive metallic particles, and an organic vehicle is also provided.
