Abstract
A system and method for producing a more desirable sheet of cardboard is provided. The system includes a corrugating device, a pressure exerting device, and a double backing device. The double backing device includes a set of hot plates operatively connected to a temperature control system to independently control the temperature of each hot plate within the set. By varying the temperature of each plate, the system can produce a sheet of paperboard with evenly cured adhesive lines to reduce warping and reduce delamination. The method of the present invention includes the steps of feeding a sheet of paperboard over the set of hot plates to evenly cure the adhesive with varying plate temperatures.
