A liquid crystal composition and an AM device using the same are described. The liquid crystal composition has a negative dielectric anisotropy, and 4.2 GPa·s/N or less as a ratio of rotational viscosity to an elastic constant, and contains a specific compound having a large negative dielectric anisotropy as a first component and a specific compound having a polymerizable group as a second component, and may contain a specific compound having a small viscosity or a large maximum temperature as a third component and a specific compound having a large negative dielectric anisotropy as a fourth component, and a liquid crystal display device includes the composition.
