Abstract
A method comprising:
- applying a magnetic nanoparticle/polymer suspension to at least a portion of a surface of plastic pieces, or to at least a portion of a surface of fiberboard pieces, in a mixed solid waste stream; andsubjecting the magnetic nanoparticle/polymer suspension-coated plastic or fiberboard pieces to a magnetic field to separate the magnetic nanoparticle/polymer suspension-coated plastic or fiberboard pieces from the mixed solid waste stream.
