Abstract
A honeycomb structure production method comprising a burning step of burning a green molded body 50 having a plurality of channels 51 parallel to each other and separated from each other by partition walls 55 to produce a honeycomb structure, wherein in the burning step, the green molded body 50 is disposed on a support member 10, the support member 10 has a support portion 12 and a support portion 14 layered on the support portion 12, the support portion 14 supports one end surface 50a of the green molded body 50, and the diameter of the support portion 12 is smaller than the diameter of the support portion 14 in the direction perpendicular to a layered direction D of the support portion 12 and the support portion 14.
