Abstract
The present invention is directed to methods of treating elderly patients with Alitretinoin severe chronic hand eczema (CHE), refractory to treatment with potent topical corticosteroids. One embodiment of the invention is a method of improving the efficacy of Alitretinoin treatment for Severe Refractory Chronic Hand Eczema (CHE) comprising
- a) identifying and/or selecting a patient in need of treatment, wherein the age of the patient is 50 years old or greater;b) administering an effective amount of Alitretinoin to said patient;c) determining PGA score; andd) discontinuing treatment with Alitretinoin when said patient achieves the PGA score of 1 or 2; thereby. The improvement is also expected to reduce risks in the patient population as continuing treatment will not be necessary.
