Abstract
Methods and compositions for treating keratinized tissue, which is infected with fungus, with a stable superoxide solution are disclosed. The method of treating a fungal infection of a subject can include contacting the fungal infection or an area infected with a fungus with a composition comprising a mixture of reduced species (RS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) with the mixture of reduced species (RS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) reducing or ameliorating a fungal infection in the subject. The mixture of reduced species (RS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) can include one or more of HOCl, NaClO, O2, H2, H+, ClO, Cl2, H2O2, O2−, HO2, Cl−, H−, *OCl, O3, *O2− and OH−.
