Abstract
Provided is a shock absorbing member including: a first shock absorbing portion for absorbing shock through compression in a vehicle front-and-rear direction, the first shock absorbing portion being formed into a tubular shape extending in a predetermined direction, and including at least one rib extending in the predetermined direction at an inner side of the first shock absorbing portion; and a second shock absorbing portion for absorbing the shock through compression in the vehicle front-and-rear direction, the second shock absorbing portion being formed integrally with the first shock absorbing portion into a tubular shape extending in the predetermined direction at an outer side in a vehicle width direction with respect to the first shock absorbing portion, and including at least one rib extending in the predetermined direction at an inner side of the second shock absorbing portion. The second shock absorbing portion is supported in abutment against one of a front end surface and a rear end surface of a support member provided at an outer side in the vehicle width direction with respect to a side member. A total area of a wall portion forming a contour of the first shock absorbing portion and the at least one rib of the first shock absorbing portion in a cross-section perpendicular to the predetermined direction is larger than a total area of a wall portion forming a contour of the second shock absorbing portion and the rib of the second shock absorbing portion in a cross-section perpendicular to the predetermined direction.
