Abstract
A system includes a sensor configured to sense an environmental condition. The sensor includes an input/output (I/O) reconfiguration system. The sensor further includes a plurality of I/O connectors configured to interface with at least one external system, wherein the I/O reconfiguration system is communicatively coupled to at least one of the plurality of I/O connectors and is configured to derive a sensor function based on an indication received via the at least one of the plurality of I/O connectors, and wherein signals derived by the sensor based on the sensor function are provided via the plurality of I/O connectors.
