Abstract
In a method for producing a non-detachable connection between a first workpiece and a second workpiece, a material of a workpiece region of the first workpiece is locally heated by friction heat by rotating a tool contacting the workpiece region. The material of the workpiece region is shaped to form a bush that projects beyond the first workpiece. The bush is integrally and monolithically connected to a material of the second workpiece by the friction heat contained in the material of the bush. Preferably, the first workpiece is a sheet metal and the second workpiece is a sleeve.
