Abstract
The invention hereunder concerns an antibacterial hybrid layer operating against pathogenic bacteria, particularly against the bacterial strain MRSA, made up of hybrid polymer resulting from the reaction of 3-(trialkoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate and/or 3-(trialkoxysilyl) propyl acrylate with 3-glycidoxy-propyltrialkoxy-silane, titanium alkoxide and silicon alkoxide with addition of soluble salts of silver, copper and zinc and potentially also with addition of titanium oxide nanoparticles. The hybrid polymer may further also contain addition of soluble salts of chromium (III) and/or vanadium or up to 90 mol. % of 3-(trialkoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate may be replaced with an equimolar mixture of methyl methacrylate and silicon alkoxide and, similarly, up to 90 mol. % of 3-(trialkoxysilyl) propyl acrylate may be replaced with an equimolar mixture of methyl acrylate and silicon alkoxide.
