Abstract
Disclosed herein is a method for preparing titanium carbide powder. More specifically, the method comprises the steps of: mixing titanium dioxide (TiO2), calcium (Ca) and carbon (C); heating the resultant mixture to form titanium carbide (TiC) under an inert atmosphere; and washing the reaction mixture with water to separate the titanium carbide from calcium oxide (CaO). The present method is capable of providing titanium carbide powders homogeneous in shape and particle size in a relatively low temperature.
