Abstract
Disclosed is a microwavable heating element and thermal storage composition for the controlled storage and release of thermal energy to a thermal mass. The microwavable heating element can be used in conjunction with a warming trivet. One disclosed warming trivet includes a housing, a heating element arranged within the housing and made of a matrix material and a microwave susceptor suspended within the matrix material, and an insulation layer disposed between the heating element and the housing, the insulation layer being configured to insulate the housing from thermal energy emitted by the heating element.
