A method for measuring the input rate Ω of an FM micro-gyro. The modulation frequency FM is first measured followed by the step of measuring a first time interval corresponding to a number of unmodulated periods of FOSC fitting into a half period of FM. A second time interval is measured corresponding to a number of modulated periods of FOSC fitting into a half period of FM. A time difference is calculated between the first and second time intervals to define a measured Δt and a modulation M is calculated that produced the measured Δt. Finally, the input rate Ω is calculated by dividing M by a sensitivity S of the FM micro-gyro.
