Abstract

For a blood cell measuring part replaceably formed as a cartridge, a threshold value for determining particles is adjusted utilizing a specific parameter that observably varies according to the cross-sectional area of the aperture for use. In a first embodiment, the volume of the smallest frequency in the obtained volume-frequency distribution is used as a threshold value K1 specific to the cartridge for use. In second to fifth embodiments, the threshold values of pulse voltage height or pulse voltage width is adjusted based on the ratio of the voltage between electrodes specific to the cartridge or the ratio of the flow velocity of the sample liquid, every time the cartridge for use is replaced.
