Abstract
A method of preparing a polyetherimide coating on a carbon steel substrate, which includes the steps of: providing an organic solvent, providing a dianhydride, providing a first diamine that is a monoaromatic diamine, providing a second diamine, placing the organic solvent, the dianhydride, the first diamine and the second diamine in a reaction vessel to form a reaction mixture, stirring the reaction mixture under inert conditions to form a polyamic acid intermediate, applying the polyamic acid intermediate on the carbon steel substrate, and curing the polyamic acid intermediate to form a polyetherimide coating.
