Abstract

Systems and methods for simultaneous and sequential routing are described. In one aspect, at least one computing device in an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network implements a method for improving simultaneous and sequential Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) forking. More specifically, the message is received from a first device associated with a first user to establish a session with a second device of multiple devices associated with a second user. Responsive to receiving the message, and independent of whether the multiple devices are registered to a same SIP registrar (Serving Call Session Control Function) in the IMS network, a simultaneous or parallel SIP session is established to ring respective ones of the multiple devices.
