Abstract
In a shift lever device, the upward movement of a pull rod 45 within a shift lever 4 separates an engaging portion 48 from detent grooves 21, and the downward movement of the pull rod 45 within the shift lever 4 engages the engaging portion 48 with the detent grooves 21 in a shift direction. The shift lever device includes a restricting arm 44 protruding from the shift lever 4 along a shift pivot shaft 30, and a swing limiter 23 disposed along the shift direction in such a manner as to be engageable with and disengageable from the restricting arm 44. When the shift lever 4 is swung in the shift direction, the swinging of the shift lever 4 in a select direction Y is restricted or permitted by the swing limiter 23 engaging with or disengaging from the restricting arm 44.
