Biomarkers for stroke and methods for their detection are disclosed. In one aspect, the present application discloses biomarkers for the diagnosis of stroke in a subject. In another aspect, the application discloses a method for the diagnosis of stroke in a subject. The method comprises detection of stroke biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid, blood, serum or PMBCs of a subject.
