Abstract
Methods and devices are described that enable real-time, hand-held diagnostic ultrasonography for use in dental practice. The methods and devices utilize circumferential surface wave modes that are highly sensitive to small surface and near surface flaws. In addition, these surface waves can propagate between the teeth, following the curvature of the tooth.
