A timepiece (1) with an endless ribbon (2) that shows time indications and travels around two parallel rollers (3, 4), and a rotary drive mechanism for at least one of these rollers, this roller being called the drive roller. The ribbon (2) is made up of strips (6) consisting of plates articulated together and extending parallel to the rollers (3, 4). At least the drive roller includes drive elements (17) for driving the strips (6).
