Abstract
A cubic boron nitride-containing sintered body has heightened fracture resistance and toughness without lowered wear resistance. The body has a binder phase containing titanium nitride and titanium carbonitride, cubic boron nitride and inevitable impurities. A distance between a Bragg angle 2θ of a (200) plane diffraction line of titanium carbonitride and a Bragg angle 2θ of a (200) plane diffraction line of titanium nitride in an X-ray diffraction measurement using a Cu—Kα line is 0.30° or more and 0.60° or less, and a full width at half maximum intensity of the (200) plane diffraction line of titanium carbonitride is 0.30° or more and 0.50° or less.
