Abstract
A device for gripping and handling elongated cylindrical bodies, such as pipes or sections of piping (T)1 includes a supporting structure (2) with gripping members mounted on the supporting structure (2) designed to hold the pipe in at least two gripping points along the longitudinal axis of the pipe, the gripping members including at least one fixed portion (5) and at least one movable gripping element hinged to the fixed portion and subject to the action of elements for bringing it from a closed position wherein the device holds the pipe (T) into an open position wherein the device releases the pipe (T), elements being provided on at least the fixed portion (5) or the movable gripping element that enable the rotation of the pipe (T) while the movable gripping element is in the closed position.
