Method for operating a motor-drive device (1) for a home automation installation (100) comprising a closure, blackout, solar protection, thermal protection or sound protection shutter (5a, 5b) provided with a first leaf (5a) and a second leaf (5b), the motor-drive device (1) including an electronic unit for controlling a first motor (Ma) and a second motor (Mb), the first motor moving the first leaf between two extreme positions and the second motor moving the second leaf between two extreme positions. The method comprises a step for powering the first and second motors so that the first and second leaves are in an intermediate position that is symmetrical relative to a vertical plane of symmetry (S) of the installation.
