Abstract
A subscription-based community advertising system and method delivers advertisements to system users that are members of computer-implemented communities in which the users subscribe to objects representing other users. The delivered advertisements may be generated in accordance with inferences of preferences from usage behaviors. The advertisements may be personalized, including making reference to other users, and explanations for why the advertisement was delivered may be provided. Advertising fees may be processed based advertisement recipient responses to the advertisements.
