Abstract
Provided is a radiological image reader that reads radiological images from an imaging plate. The reader includes: a holder that holds the imaging plate in a flat manner; a light source that emits excitation light; a scanning mechanism that causes an optical path of the excitation light emitted from the light source to rotate around a rotation axis being perpendicular to a scanning plane including a radiological image forming surface of the imaging plate held by the holder and being apart from the light source, and causes an irradiation point at which the excitation light emitted from the light source is irradiated to circularly move on the scanning plane; a photodetector that is provided on the rotation axis and detects photostimulated luminescence light emitted from the irradiation point; and a relative movement mechanism that causes the holder to move in a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis, relative to the scanning mechanism.
