Abstract

An information provision system (10) includes a vehicle-mounted DSRC device (20) which is a terminal to be mounted on a vehicle (100) and capable of receiving contents for the members and contents for the nonmembers distributed by a predetermined communication system, a roadside apparatus (40) which is a base station capable of transmitting contents to the vehicle-mounted DSRC device (20), and an information providing server (60) capable of providing contents to the roadside apparatus (40). The information providing server (60) includes a control unit for checking the communication environment which the vehicle-mounted DSRC device (20) or the roadside apparatus (40) has. The vehicle-mounted DSRC device (20) includes a control unit for performing at least three processes: an admission pre-processing for enabling reception of contents for the members or withdrawal pre-processing of disabling the reception, a storing processing of storing the performed pre-processing, and a transmission processing of transmitting the stored pre-processing to the roadside apparatus (40) when the vehicle-mounted DSRC device (20) enters the area where the vehicle-mounted DSRC device (20) can communicate with the roadside apparatus (40). With this constitution, the user can receive only truly useful information.
