Abstract
The advantage of the invention is to efficiently reduce the amount of image data shot by using a wide-angle lens such as a fish-eye lens. A method of compressing image data shot with a wide-angle lens 9 according to the invention comprises: assigning a plurality of pixel data within a predetermined circular range based on a rectangular shot image including a circular image shot by a wide-angle lens, producing a rectangular reduced image of which numbers of pixels are smaller than the rectangular shot image (step ST4), and compressing the rectangular reduced image (step ST5).
