Abstract
Provided are a novel hydrazide chelate complex compound which is excellent in terms of both solubility in a coating solvent and light fastness, which can be used for blue laser recording, and which is useful as a dye for forming a recording layer of an optical recording medium, the hydrazide chelate complex compound being represented by general formula (1) below; and a dye for forming a recording layer of an optical recording medium, the dye containing the compound.each represent a hydrogen atom, an aromatic ring group, or a monovalent nonaromatic ring substituent having 20 or less carbon atoms; n represents 0 or 1; a represents an integer of 1 to 3; M represents a transition metal atom; and X represents an atom of Groups 14 to 16 of the periodic table.
