Abstract
A positive plate (3) of a nickel-metal hydride rechargeable cell includes nickel hydroxide particles (18), a coating layer (19) that coats at least a part of the surface of each of the nickel hydroxide particles (18) and includes a cobalt compound as a base, in which the average valence of cobalt is more than bivalent, and additives (15), (16) that are distributed between the nickel hydroxide particles (18) and contain niobium and yttrium. A negative plate (4) includes hydrogen storage alloy with a cobalt content of 2.0 percent by mass or less, and a separator (5) includes fiber having a sulfo group. Alkaline electrolyte contains sodium hydroxide as a base for a solute.
