The housing of the filter assembly is preferably made of any metal and/or polymer, and can hold one or two externally centering filter elements or cartridges, each of which can hold a single filter, or multiple filters. Flow in filter housings having two externally centering filter elements or cartridges can be unidirectional or opposed.
