Abstract
Systems and methods directed to processing a video signal, either interlaced or progressive, are provided. A plurality of samples of a reconstructed macroblock of the video signal are evaluated to generate data associated with at least one of the plurality of samples. The data and the reconstructed macroblock can be provided from memory to a deinterlacer unit, and the method can control the deinterlacer unit to deinterlace the reconstructed macroblock based at least in part on the data. Artifacts of the video signal can be identified and removed based on the stored sample data associated with the samples.
