Abstract
A system controlled responsive to data bearing records includes a card reader that is operative to read data from user cards including identifying data, and authorizes operation of an automated banking machine responsive to the identifying data. The automated banking machine includes a housing including a generally L-shaped chest portion and an upper housing portion. The banking machine includes a fascia which extends on the outside of a wall and includes a user interface. Responsive to inputs of a user through the user interface the machine is operative to accept a stack of sheets which are evaluated through operation of a sheet validator device and which enables acceptable sheets to be stored within the chest portion. Unacceptable sheets may be routed to a storage area. Provisions may be made for reducing the risk of attack on the machine by criminals and to facilitate servicing by authorized personnel.
