Abstract
The present invention provides synergistic combinations for the treatment of conditions associated with pain including acute pain, e.g., postoperative pain, chronic pain, inflammatory pain, neuropathic pain and pain associated with migraine. In particular, the present invention relates to the use of an allosteric adenosine A.sub.1 receptor enhancer in conjunction with opioid analgesics or 2-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole-propionic acid (AMPA)/kainate antagonists for alleviating pain, e.g., postoperative pain.
