Abstract
A polymer film or fiber having abilities of rapid and repeated stretching, contraction and deformation in a gas such as air (dry system), achieves deformation ratio of 10 times or more compared to conventional methods. In the deformation method of a polymer film or fiber by absorption and desorption of molecules by an external stimulus, the external stimulus is applied to the polymer film or fiber in a deformed state so as to generate an internal force, by which the elastic modulus of the polymer film or fiber in the deformed state is changed, and then the polymer film or fiber is deformed.
