A method of treating infectious inflammation in a mammal, including man, which comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment, nitric oxide, in the form of gaseous nitric oxide or a nitric oxide donor, in combination with a glucocorticoid, said combination being used in a therapeutically effective amount to accomplish treatment of said inflammation.
