Abstract

The present invention provides a method for preparing compounds comprising a plurality of cucurbituril groups. The method comprises forming a mixture comprising one or more compounds of the formula A-L-A wherein L is a linking group and A is group of the formula (A), and an acid, and exposing the mixture to conditions effective for at least some of the groups A to form cucurbituril groups.
