Abstract

The present invention is directed to bacteria which contain a lysC.sup.FBR that encodes a feedback resistant aspartokinase enzyme and whose expression is under the control of a gleceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (gap) promoter. The bacteria may be used in the fermentative production of L-amino acids, especially, L-lysine.
