Abstract
A membrane filter for microbe detection that realizes low fluorescent background, being applicable to staining combining fluorescent dyes of variable wavelengths, and that attains enhanced operationality. There is provided a membrane filter for microbe detection, comprising a polymer layer of 10 to 500 .mu.m thickness and, superimposed thereon, a metal layer of 0.1 nm to 1 .mu.m thickness. Further, there is provided a method of microbe detection wherein microbe detection is carried out with the use of the membrane filter for microbe detection according to any one of claims 1 to 5.
