The system (10) includes at least one video camera (30) and a display monitor (40), with the monitor (40) being located substantially behind and viewable through the mirror (170). The system (10) is capable of recording, storing, and replaying video images, and may also allow for capturing audio signals and other desirable information, including, for example, location and speed information.
